Made by Frederic Remington (American, 1861-1909), Woolly Chaps is a variation of his most famous sculpture, The Bronco Buster. The difference in the two sculptures is only in the texture of the leggings worn by the cowboy.
Frederic Remington depicted the life of the cowboy during the 1880's and 1890's better perhaps than any other artist of his time. He thought of himself as a true citizen of the American West.
Bronze sculpture on wooden base.
