Jerome Totsoni

Jerome Totsoni was born in 1976 into the Kayonnie Totchnie clan of the Navajo tribe. He learned to carve long hair dolls from his brother as a young age.

The Long Hair Kachina is a singer of sweet songs who brings rain and flowers. His long hair, beard and loose tassels of feathers symbolize rain and clouds. The Long Hair Kachina dance appears from the Rio Grande to the
Hopi Mesas. Their purpose is to bring rain, and it is said that they seldom dance without the appearance of a soft gentle rain. They appear in a group and sing a very melodious song which may be one of the reasons that they are such favorites.
