The local rodeo is a family affair, and in most ranching and rodeo families everyone pulls together for the mutual goal of continuing the rodeo tradition.

Joanne Berghold's love affair with the West began in the faraway arena of Madison Square Garden watching professionals elevate ranch and cattle-drive chorse to rodeo art. Now a part-time Montana resident, she has long been documenting its hometown rodeo circuit. Her stirring photographs provide an unsentimental view of rodeo contestants and smalltown and ranch residents enjoying the wild ride that is the rodeo experience.
